frankincenseFrankincense & Myrrh, The Gift of the Three Wise Men
There is nothing like the scent of genuine pure Frankincense & Myrrh. And there's nothing like the sense of smell for having an effect on you. The olfactory sense, is the only one of the 5 senses directly connected to the brain. It can stimulate chemical and nerve reactions like nothing else. They didn't call them the 3 wise men for nothing! When you smell something, you are actually ingesting tiny particles of what you're smelling. So if we're going to be ingesting things through our noses, we should chose our odors carefully right? This incense is good stuff in that regard - besides it's spiritual use over the ages, the resins were once used in medicine for a variety of ailments. Some say it triggers memories of distant times and places. Used throughout time for spiritual development, prayer, meditation, and sacred rites, it is said to attract positive spirits like angels & saints - and repulse malevolent spirits. Hey - even if it doesn't, it sure smells heavenly! For more info about aromatherapy and its ancient historical uses, read our aromatherapy page. We carry only the best - the pure dried beads of frankincense and myrrh resins from the plants, with no additives (they put some pretty gross "fillers" in most stick and cone incense - including manure). We also have a new product - hand-collected and rolled pure Cedar, Juniper, and pine incense resin balls from our new monastery site. Bring a little of the essence of the monastery site into your home. It is in very short supply, and will be limited. incense from our monastery Because all our incense products are pure, it cannot just be lit like the stuff with additives. Instead, it must be burned on something hot. Some people burn it on charcoals. There are special incense burning charcoals and burners made, and the charcoals are "self-starting" by just touching a flame to them. But they have two problems. One is that the self-starting coating contains sulfur, and lighting it smells like burning a dozen match books indoors (sulfur is used for satanic rituals too - yucchh!). The other problem is that the charcoal consumes oxygen. We have also heard of people suffocating in small rooms because of that. So we don't sell it. As Tarzan says "Oxygen Good. Jane like Oxygen". Besides, why pay for charcoal when there is a cheap way, and a better way. The Cheapest Way - if you already have a hot plate, you can use that, or a stove top works. Simply burn your frankincense, myrrh or monastery resin incense balls on an old pan - even a disposable aluminum pie plate, or piece of aluminum foil will work. As usual with anything you cook, or could cause a fire, use caution and common sense. [Note: a reader recently raised concerns about the toxicity of heating aluminum. We don't think it's a problem, but use your own judgment. We don't cook in aluminum because of that, but don't think burning incense on it is a problem. PS, non-stick coated pans can be deadly if burned dry]
