When JP came across hgh (human growth hormone), his newsletter revealed the amazing physical benefits he experienced, but not the metaphysical issues. Jon believed it is also a spiritual aid. HGH is a substance naturally secreted by the pituitary gland (the "Third Eye/6th Chakra"), but levels start dropping around age 30. Jon believed supplementing it in conjunction with meditation (with a doctor's permission and in a safe form - i.e., not derived from human or animal sources) could help activate the spiritual centers (plexuses/chakras). Since meditation techniques are related to the awakening of this "master gland"/sixth center, he surmised that HGH human growth hormone could also be spiritually beneficial overall for meditators, and stimulate all the Kundalini related centers. JP was also a scientist, but his theory can't be "scientifically proven" without massive, costly university studies. He strongly believed his theory because of his own experiments, experiences (and intuition).
