Does a Nostradamus prediction warrant the fame it gets? The
Nostradamus prophecy rage has been fueled by misunderstanding the predictions, and
by people deliberately fostering misinterpretations. We were even emailed a
WTC Nostradamus prophecy hoax. Written like a Nostradamus quatrain, someone had merely stuck quotes from
various quatrains together, to make the prediction seem profound.
I (Jon Peniel) was once impressed by what I read about these
prophecies. Indeed, what I read was impressive.
The problem was, it wasn't real.
Eventually,
I learned that what people were quoting, was generally an interpretation of a
translation of an interpretation. Confusing, yes? And
most turned out to be false. When I finally got to the
"real", exact quotes (which are also in question due to
their age, the church, and hoaxes), and did a crude translation myself, I found
a mixed up "gobbly gook" that made little sense. You really had
to stretch the imagination and WANT to make things fit, in order for these
alleged prophecies to be truly profound.
Of course, he lived during a dangerous era in which he could have been burned
for
witchcraft or heresy, so he coded his quatrains, and said they'd only be
revealed once a "key" was used to decode them. He said this would be discovered in the future,
but unfortunately, it hasn't - yet.
Since then, I attended the "school of the prophets"
myself. My opinion is that at this time, Nostradamus' prophecies are not worth
pursuing. Focus on
developing your own intuition/psychic and prophetic powers. Open your mind, open your eyes and look around, you will come up with
your own prophecy. Understanding cause and effect, and free will, and then
observing things without fear, is the simple yet complex key to prophecy.
